In Tangier, construction is prohibited

Dozens of Tangier residents are fed up with the fact that state services have been refusing to issue them building permits for the past ten years while the cost of rents in the city of Tangier continues to rise. They are asking the wali of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, Younes Tazi, to find a solution to the problem.

On Wednesday, dozens of angry Tangier residents gathered outside the prefecture building. In unison, they denounced the ten-year ban on construction in the Sidi Driss neighborhood, located in the Beni Makada district, chaired by an Istiqlal party MP, due to the new 2014 development plan. This excluded hundreds of families because the land they own was classified as public areas, such as cemeteries and green spaces. In a statement to Hespressone of the affected residents, said that 500 families in the area are still suffering from the consequences of the problems caused by the development plan.
