In Spain, a Moroccan family almost on the street
Zohra and her family are under threat of eviction. The woman, who lives with her husband and their 8-year-old son in a two-room apartment in the Lavapies neighborhood of Madrid, fears she will end up on the street with her family on July 24.
The owner of the apartment where Zohra, her husband and her son have been living for ten years, obtained an eviction order from the competent court requiring the family to vacate the premises by 24 July at the latest. However, the Spanish government issued a decree to suspend these types of evictions and Zohra’s family is recognised by the administration as vulnerable and having no alternative housing. Zohra has already managed to have the judge’s eviction order against her cancelled twice, recalls Public.
