A new mode of transport is emerging in Tangier and other Moroccan cities. However, it is deemed illegal by Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit.
As tensions between taxi drivers and users of transport applications escalate, a new mode of transport is emerging. In Tangier, transport companies have started using motorcycles to transport passengers. They require drivers to have motorcycles in good condition and equipped with legal documents such as registration cards and driving licenses, so that they can offer their services via the applications after registering their personal data. They also give them guidelines, including avoiding certain places such as taxi ranks, train stations and in front of hotels, in order to avoid problems with taxi professionals and evade security investigations.
