In Morocco, illegal taxis in the government’s sights

Abdelouafi Laftit, Minister of the Interior, says he is waging a relentless fight against illegal taxis, particularly users of smart transport applications who have not obtained a license to operate.

Responding to a written question from the Party of Progress and Socialism (PPS), on the tension between taxi drivers and users of smart transport applications, Laftit clarified that the clashes that occur between taxi drivers and some non-professional drivers who use private cars to offer transport services via smart applications are limited cases. Also, he assured that the relevant security authorities take the necessary measures and procedures to deal with all acts that threaten the safety of people or endanger their property. In addition, offenders are referred to the competent judicial authorities to take the necessary sanctions.
