In Gironde, Moroccans denounce “a vast scam”

The trial of two Moroccans – a father and a son – opened Tuesday before the Libourne Criminal Court. They are accused of human trafficking in Bordeaux wine estates.

Ahmed and el Mehdi Genna appear before the Libourne criminal court for human trafficking in Bordeaux wine estates. Six Moroccan compatriots accuse them of having accommodated them in unworthy conditions and exploited them without remuneration, reports Le Figaro. They also accuse them of having promised them a long-term residence permit, a stable job paid at 1,500 euros per month and accommodation in return for a sum of around 12,000 euros to bring them to France. “I accepted, because I dreamed of a better life in France,” testified one of the victims, a mechanic in Morocco, on Tuesday morning on the stand.
