In Casablanca, angry cafes and restaurants
The decision of the Casablanca town hall to harmonize the urban aesthetic of the city and to put an end to the disorder linked to the occupation of public space has angered professionals in the café and restaurant sector.
Professionals in the café and restaurant sector are unhappy with Casablanca town hall. They criticize the municipality for not having consulted them about imposing a new aesthetic on cafes and restaurants. Professionals welcome this initiative aimed at organizing the sector and preserving the aesthetics of the city, but this requires consultation and communication with them, told Hespress Ahmed Boufekrane, national coordinator of the National Federation of Café and Restaurant Owners in Morocco. According to him, professionals expect local authorities to communicate with them, sit down around a dialogue table and be prepared for this decision. Otherwise, the lack of consultation will increase their dissatisfaction with those in charge.
