How Morocco plans to circumvent the European carbon tax
Some North African countries, including Morocco, are setting up CO₂ transport and storage infrastructure to avoid the European Union’s new carbon tax.
“There are countries in North Africa that have been working for three years to create transport and storage infrastructures because they have exhausted their gas deposits. The message they are sending to the countries is to set up a plant in their territories, with CO₂ capture, and then send it to deep geological storage in areas depleted of gas. All this at a reasonable price, because half of the infrastructure has been completed,” says the Spanish CO₂ Technology Platform.
