Homosexuality, adultery… in Morocco: Abdelilah Benkirane’s warning

The Secretary General of the Justice and Development Party (PJD), Abdelilah Benkirane, strongly criticized, Thursday, during the 18th national youth forum of his party, the recent statements of the Minister of Justice calling for a decriminalization of adultery.

For Benkirane, this proposal opens the way to a broader societal “drift,” threatening Morocco’s traditional values. “Whoever introduced consensual relationships and homosexuality and these similar scourges in Morocco, tomorrow, will come and tell you that your sons must become girls and your daughters must become boys,” he warned, denouncing an “attack” against the foundations of Moroccan society.
