High cost of holidays in Morocco: Parliament gets involved

Overpriced tourist offers have pushed most Moroccans to spend their holidays in foreign countries such as Spain, Italy and Portugal. Concerned, the Progress and Socialism group in the House of Representatives is questioning Fatim-Zahra Ammor, Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, Social and Solidarity Economy, on this subject.

Domestic tourism is in bad shape due to the high prices of offers. In a written question, the Progress and Socialism group in the House of Representatives severely criticized the Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, Social and Solidarity Economy. It stated that some tourism institutions and agencies do not respect the law and do not comply with the standards of good conduct towards customers. One of these bad practices is the imposition of exorbitant prices for various tourist services. According to the parliamentary group, what the majority of citizens have observed, and which has been relayed by the national press, confirms the existence of a great disorder in the prices of tourist accommodation in all its forms, as well as the chaos of the prices of tourist services, and the vertiginous increase in the prices of all consumer products in popular tourist places, exceeding the purchasing capacity of the families concerned, and violating the law “in a flagrant and greedy manner”.
