Hidden fresh water reserves in Morocco?
The recent discovery of a large freshwater basin in Sicily, located at a depth of more than 700 metres, suggests that there may be others in countries south of the Mediterranean, including Morocco.
Researchers from the University of Malta, the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) and the University of Rome have recently made a unique discovery: a large freshwater basin located between 700 and 2,500 metres below the surface of the town of Gela, on the south-eastern coast of the island of Sicily in Italy.
