Germany: Moroccan child killed in knife attack

A 2-year-old Moroccan boy died in a knife attack in Aschaffenburg, Germany on Wednesday. Police arrested a suspect at the scene. He is a 28-year-old man of Afghan nationality.

The attack took place in Schöntal Park, located near the city center of Aschaffenburg, Bavaria, said a police spokesperson. An area considered “dangerous” by the city’s security services. The suspect killed the 2-year-old boy, of Moroccan origin, and a 41-year-old passerby who tried to protect the child. Two other people, including a 2-year-old girl of Syrian origin, and a 61-year-old man who intervened to protect the group of children coming from a daycare near the park, were also seriously injured.
