Gambling in Morocco: bad news for players
In Morocco, profits from games of chance will now be subject to income tax. This is the direct consequence of certain amendments to the 2025 Finance Bill by the Chamber of Advisors.
Winnings from online gambling of foreign origin, paid by foreign companies, will now be subject to income tax. This is what the 2025 finance bill, voted on last Friday by the Chamber of Advisors, provides. Concretely, there is a withholding tax set at 30%, reports the daily Assaba. This tax will thus be applied directly to the winnings, even before their transfer to the beneficiaries, in order to avoid tax evasion while ensuring that foreign companies contribute to the kingdom’s economy, particularly in terms of currencies.
