“French Arabics”: the malaise of some Moroccans in France and Morocco

Discriminated against in France, the children of many Moroccans residing in France experience discomfort during their holidays in the kingdom. Nicknamed “French Arabics”, these third-generation French people, who feel rejected in both countries, are the target of harsh criticism on social networks.

Young MREs, called “French Arabics” on social media, are accused by locals of all kinds of incivility: urban rodeos, refusal to comply, clashes, etc. “In the summer, it’s simple: if something stupid is done, it’s by a Frenchman. These guys, they arrive with their hands in their pockets, spend money and think they’re at home. But they have no education, no respect, and they think we’re part of the same family. I have nothing to do with them,” denounced to Charlie HebdoMohammed, 30 years old, living in Casablanca.
