Farewells banned in Moroccan airports

In Morocco, it is still not possible to say goodbye to a loved one, a Moroccan resident abroad (MRE) or a traveler inside the airport departure lounge. A measure that Moroccan families oppose.

Moroccan families are denouncing the measure in force in all airports in the kingdom. To say goodbye to a loved one or a traveler, they must do so outside the airport. The traveler must then enter to begin boarding formalities. Moroccan families are protesting against this measure in particular because the outdoor areas have no place to sit, rest, or protect themselves from the sun and rain, in addition to the absence of services such as restaurants and cafes. In this period characterized by the arrival and departure of many of their loved ones residing abroad, they point out that they will not be able to accompany them, say goodbye to them or carry their luggage with them.
