F-35 stealth fighter: why Spain fears Moroccan air ambitions

Morocco plans to acquire the F-35, a fifth-generation stealth fighter, from the American manufacturer Lockheed Martin to strengthen its air forces; which would cause concern in Spain.

According to a Spanish report, Spain is concerned about Morocco’s upcoming acquisition of American F-35 stealth fighters. “Although bilateral relations between the two countries are generally good and they share a common ally, the United States, Rabat wants to strengthen its air forces with sophisticated aircraft,” says the document, noting that “at the threat future Algerian Su-57 fighters, adds Morocco’s clear interest in acquiring the American F-35 Lightning II stealth fighter.
