Dubai extradites Moroccan drug lord
Arrested in Dubai a year ago, Faissal Taghi, Ridouan Taghi’s eldest sonThe leader of the Mocro Maffia, was extradited to the Netherlands on Friday. The 23-year-old is accused of belonging to the Moroccan mafia led by his father and of money laundering.
The private plane carrying Faissal Taghi landed in the Netherlands on Friday, shortly before 10 p.m. The public prosecutor confirmed the extradition, which was possible thanks to the treaty signed in 2023 with the United Arab Emirates. Ridouan Taghi’s eldest son is currently in detention in an undisclosed location. The young man was extradited along with another suspect, a 46-year-old man wanted since February 2022 by the Dutch authorities for international drug trafficking, and arrested last November in Abu Dhabi. The two suspects will appear before a judge next week who will decide whether or not to continue their detention.
