Death of Amine El Aamri in Brussels: The Moroccan family claims justice
Victim of a violent assault at the back of a Saint-Gilles cafe in July 2023, Amine El Aamri, 20, died of her injuries. After almost two years of surveys, justice plans to return the file to correctional. The family of the victim, of Moroccan origin, shouts in injustice.
The young man was found dying, near Bara square in Anderlecht, before being transported to the hospital. According to the investigation, he was the victim of a violent assault not far from the place where he was found. “He celebrated his birthday the following week and with his girlfriend, they were talking about engagement in September,” says Boujeema El Aamri, to The last hour. “Around midnight, the police struck our door to tell us that he had been hospitalized and that we had to see him at all costs, because it could be the last time …”, says Amine’s father. Accompanied by his wife, he went to Saint-Pierre hospital where his son was admitted. Seeing him in a coma and under an artificial respirator, was a “real shock” for them: “We already know that it’s over, we know that he is soon dead”.
