Convicted of homicide, he escapes during a meeting at the Moroccan consulate

While serving the last months of a 15-year sentence handed down in Poissy prison in Essonne, an inmate used subterfuge to escape during a meeting at the Moroccan consulate in Pontoise. He is the target of an investigation for escape into an organized gang, entrusted to the Versailles Banditry Suppression Brigade.

The scene took place late Friday morning in the premises of the Moroccan consulate in Pontoise. An inmate from Poissy central prison, the Yvelines penitentiary establishment reserved for long sentences, was taken there in order to carry out administrative procedures. Once there, he managed to elude the vigilance of the prison administration supervisors. He asked to smoke a cigarette on the sidewalk and took the opportunity to flee, reports The Parisian. The 43-year-old man jumped into a car that was waiting for him and fled. He was not handcuffed.
