Controversy surrounding a marital rape case in Morocco

The Court of Cassation recently overturned a decision of the Tangier Court of Appeal which had convicted a man for the rape of his wife.

This case, which dates back to 2019, was initially dismissed by the first instance, before being relaunched by the court of appeal. This found the husband guilty of “marital rape” and “serious harm to the physical integrity” of his wife.
