China, the goose that lays the golden eggs of Moroccan tourism?
THE Morocco rolls out the red carpet for Chinese tourists. After the visit of President Xi Jinping, relations between Rabat and Beijing are warming up, paving the way for increased collaboration, particularly in the field of tourism. The objective? Attract half a million Chinese visitors within three to four years, as revealed by the Moroccan ambassador to China, Abdelkader El Ansari.
The Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT) shares this ambition, but the supervisory ministry sees even bigger things, hoping to welcome 750,000 Chinese tourists. A subject discussed during a meeting between Minister Fatima Zahra Ammor and Rao Quan, Chinese Vice Minister of Culture and Tourism.
