China excludes Polisario

Algeria has failed to convince China to host its protégé, the Polisario, at the 2024 summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) to be held from September 4 to 6 in Beijing.

A new snub for Algeria. China has given an unfavorable response to the request of the Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, concerning the participation of the Polisario in the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC). Beijing rejected this request on the grounds that it does not authorize the participation of separatist organizations not recognized by the United Nations.
