Casablanca: no more shanty towns before 2030?



18.6 billion dirhams. This is the budget allocated by the authorities of the Casablanca-Settat region to rehouse the inhabitants of the shanty towns in low-cost housing.


The rehousing of families living in shanty towns within the framework of the Cities without Slums Program implemented in the prefectures of Casablanca and Mohammedia and the provinces of Nouaceur and Madiouna, should, according to an agreement signed between all stakeholders in this project, be financed by the Casablanca-Settat Regional Council to the tune of 500,000 dirhams, the Ministry of Economy and Finance to the tune of 375,3400 dirhams, the Ministry of Regional Planning, Housing, Urban Planning and Urban Policy to the tune of 2.5 billion dirhams, the Directorate of State Lands to the tune of 700 million dirhams and the beneficiaries to the tune of 6.2 billion dirhams.
