Burkina Faso: concern after the disappearance of Moroccan drivers

Four Moroccan truck drivers have been missing since Saturday January 18, 2025, around 10 a.m., while they were traveling between Dori, in the northeast of Burkina Faso, and Téra, in the west of Niger, aboard three trucks.

The Moroccan embassy in Burkina Faso was alerted and immediately contacted the Burkinabe authorities. Search operations have been launched to try to find the missing drivers. The latter would have taken a particularly dangerous route, known to be the scene of activities of terrorist and armed groups. Looting and roadblocks are frequent there, making any movement without an escort extremely perilous.
