Brazilian straightening: health alert in France, Morocco also concerned
The National Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health Safety (ANSES) recently issued an alert concerning the use of “Brazilian straightening” products containing glyoxylic acid, a cosmetic ingredient considered potentially toxic to the kidneys.
Since the start of the year, four cases of acute kidney failure have been reported in France following the use of these products, including one woman who is still hospitalized. Brazilian straightening is also very popular in Morocco.
