Automotive industry: Morocco, new African champion

Morocco is now the number 1 vehicle producer in Africa, surpassing South Africa which has held this position for several decades.

With the Renault-Dacia factories in Casablanca and Tangier, or Stellantis in Kenitra (Peugeot, Citroën, Fiat Opel, etc.), Morocco is ranked first in terms of vehicle manufacturing in Africa for the year 2024. The kingdom thus dethrones South Africa which “was for several decades the undisputed number one in vehicle manufacturing on a continental scale”, indicates The Economist.
