Assilah: Deserted beaches and economic activity at a standstill

The proliferation of brown jellyfish on the coast of Assilah is worrying holidaymakers who are moving away from the beaches. A situation that is undermining tourism and also fishing in northern Morocco.

A hard blow for tourism activity. While Assilah is counting on the summer season to take advantage of the economic dynamic, holidaymakers are facing the invasion of jellyfish on the beaches of Assilah and are forced to leave, reports Al-Akhbar. Some have preferred to interrupt their holidays while others have opted for a change of destination. However, bathers are not at risk, because these jellyfish “do not pose a danger to the health of bathers”. However, they are capable of attracting insects that can be harmful.
