Amazing discovery of dinosaurs fossils in the Moroccan Sahara

Fossils from the first dinosaurs could be buried in the dunes of the Moroccan Sahara and in the Amazon forest. This is revealed by a new study on the origin of dinosaurs and their evolution, published in the journal Current Biology.

The oldest fossils date from around 230 million years and have been discovered further south, in places like Brazil, Argentina and Zimbabwe. “The dinosaurs are well studied, but we still do not know where they come from,” explains Joel Heath, doctoral student in Earth Sciences at the University College London (UCL) and the main author of the study.
