Alsa raises prices: Marrakchis are angry

Human rights activists are up in arms against the increase by the company “Alsa” of fares on certain urban and suburban transport lines, notably the line linking Marrakech to Benguerir. They call on the competent authorities to intervene.

Since Wednesday, the fare for the line connecting Marrakech to Benguerir has increased from 18 dirhams to 20 dirhams, activists have reported on social media. According to many witnesses, the urban transport company Alsa aims to compensate for its losses and make more profits through this fare increase, at the expense of passenger comfort. But this increase is having trouble getting through to human rights actors in Marrakech.
