Alleged heiress of Moroccan king behind big scam

A Belgian septuagenarian has lost the “fruit of his life’s work” in a major scam orchestrated by an alleged heiress of a former king of Morocco. A 40-year-old Parisian already sentenced to ten months in prison in France for a fraud case has been arrested and placed in detention.

It all started with an email that a lady, presenting herself as the heiress of a former king of Morocco, sent to a 71-year-old man from Namur in 2021. In this message, “she asks for his financial support to help her pay significant inheritance tax and promises him that he could in return benefit from the generosity but also from the affection of this noble young woman who would have found good fortune in the meantime,” reports The last hour. The septuagenarian takes the bait. First payment: €10,000. He receives an acknowledgement of debt and a copy of both sides of the identity card of the woman he has just rescued. The scam doesn’t stop there. He is asked for further payments.
