Algerian journalist Hafid Derradji arouses the anger of Moroccans

During the match between Algeria and Liberia for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, Algerian sports commentator Hafid Derradji reignited tensions regarding the origin of zellige and aroused the anger of Moroccans.

While commenting on the match on the beIN Sports channel, he repeatedly claimed that the zellige was of Algerian origin. “Algerian zellige is present everywhere, in the stadium and in schools… It is a part of Algerian culture,” he declared, thus reigniting tensions between Morocco and Algeria.
