Algeria and “Rif Day”: a ridiculous and provocative scenario

Algeria’s organization of a conference devoted to the Moroccan Rif region has sparked a wave of criticism in Morocco. Academics and experts in international relations reacted strongly to this initiative, seeing it as a new maneuver by Algiers to destabilize the kingdom. This event, widely reported by the Algerian media, reignites tensions between the two neighboring countries.

Said Saddiki, professor of international relations at Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah University in Fez, did not mince his words regarding the “Rif Day” organized in Algiers on November 23. He described the event as “absurd staging” based on empty speeches and speakers sorely lacking in objectivity.
