Agadir deserted by MREs: the effect of exorbitant prices
Moroccan and foreign tourists, as well as Moroccans residing abroad (MRE), have deserted coastal cities such as Agadir during this summer season due to rising accommodation prices. A low turnout that is detrimental to tourism activity and the region’s economy.
Unlike previous summer seasons, Agadir did not welcome many tourists this summer. This August, the influx of tourists remained low compared to past summers. “This summer was not like usual, and the influx of local tourists and Moroccans living abroad to coastal cities was timid,” confirms Abdelghani Bouayachi, vice-president of the municipality of Agadir, responsible for the environment and quality of life.
