Accused of sexual abuse of models in Morocco, Mike Jeffries arrested in New York
Accused of sexual abuse of models – young boys recruited with the help of an intermediary – in New York, in Morocco, Mike Jeffries, former boss of Abercrombie & Fitch (1992-2014), was arrested in Florida with his companion, Matthew Smith. He appears in a West Palm Beach court.
Mike Jeffries, 79, his companion, Matthew Smith, 60, as well as James Jacobson, 70, an alleged intermediary, are no longer free to move around. New York federal prosecutor Breon Peace, also a lawyer by training, announced their arrest on Tuesday. He accuses Mike Jeffries of having “used his power, wealth and influence to exploit men for his pleasure and that of his companion”. The former boss of Abercrombie & Fitch and his two co-defendants are charged with “trafficking for the purposes of sexual exploitation and pimping”.
