Accused of racism, Melvyn Jaminet heavily sanctioned

French rugby player Melvyn Jaminet, a full-back for the French XV, who made racist remarks in a video shared on his social networks, has been suspended for several months.

Melvyn Jaminet is paying dearly for his racist remarks. In a press release published on Friday, the French Rugby Federation (FFR) announced that it had imposed a 34-week suspension, or nearly 8 months, on the French XV full-back three weeks after his racist remarks made in a video during the Blues’ tour of South America. He was also required to pay a financial penalty of 30,000 euros. “Following the FFR Disciplinary Council held today, it was found that Melvyn Jaminet had undermined the best interests of rugby,” the Federation summarized.
