Abdeslam Ahizoune ignored by King Mohammed VI?



King Mohammed VI elevated Soufiane El Bakkali, who saved Morocco’s honor at the Paris Olympics by winning gold in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, to the rank of Commander of the Order of the Throne. The ceremony took place on Wednesday, in the presence of Abdeslam Ahizoune, president of the Royal Moroccan Athletics Federation.


Mohammed VI awarded this distinction to the Moroccan athlete who won a historic victory in the 3,000 meters steeplechase at the Paris Olympic Games. The Sovereign had sent a message of congratulations to El Bakkali who retained his Olympic title after winning the gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 Games, becoming the first athlete to win two gold medals in two consecutive editions of the Olympic Games.
