A new bus network will be launched in Rabat

Rabat will soon have its high-level bus service network (BHNS), in order to strengthen the public transport offer before the holding of the African Cup of Nations (CAN 2025) and the 2030 World Cup.

Rabat is working to improve its urban mobility. Preliminary studies for a high-level bus service (BHNS) network will soon be launched. Recently, the local development company (SDL) Rabat Région Mobilité, which is supervising the project, published a call for tenders to begin the studies necessary for the creation of the BHNS network. Last year, this company completed studies on certain sections of the master plan for dedicated public transport (TCSP) in tramway mode. This involves the creation of a 45-kilometer bus network covering several strategic sections of the urban area. We can mention the Madinat Al Irfane-Hay Riad Center section which connects the future multimodal interchange hub of Madinat Al Irfane to the Hay Riad district via Allal Al Fassi, Abdelkarim Al Khatib, Al Haour, and Abderrahim Bouabid avenues. There is also the section of the city of Temara which connects the dense districts of Temara and its railway station to the areas served by the existing tramway network, passing through the avenues Abderrahim Bouabid, Oudayas, Mohammed Al Hayyani, Moulay Hassan 1ᵉʳ and Mohammed V.
