A French school forces parents of Moroccan students to bend
The French Council of State decided in favor of weekly teaching of five hours in the Arabic language per week for CE1 and CM2 students at the André Chénier French school in Rabat, thus going against the wishes of Moroccan parents.
This is the end of a long administrative dispute. In 2019, parents of Moroccan students challenged the decision of the French André Chénier school, in Rabat, to increase weekly teaching in Arabic to five hours for CE1 and CM2 students. A schedule arrangement that was not to their taste. They then brought the case before the Paris administrative court. In 2021, they won their case. The court’s decision will be confirmed in January 2023 by the Paris Administrative Court of Appeal. The establishment’s decision will then be annulled.
