A Chinese giant for the Moroccan TGV
Morocco has just awarded the Chinese company Covec the contract to modernize the Kenitra-Marrakech high-speed line, worth 1.3 billion dirhams. The Chinese construction giant had already been selected in 2016 to carry out civil engineering work during the first phase of this mega project.
Morocco has decided to renew the Chinese Covec on this project, in an approach of “technical continuity”, explains to ChallengeMichel Viallatte, public policy expert. “It’s a real issue in the choice of operators.” The contract awarded to Covec includes earthworks, the construction of engineering structures, the re-establishment of communications and the installation of fences on the classic line in operation at Casablanca, it is specified.
