2024, the hottest year of the century… except in Morocco
2024 is expected to be the hottest year on record worldwide, except in Morocco. The General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) explains the reasons.
With a projected increase in annual global temperature of 1.5 degrees Celsius, the year 2024 would be the hottest on record, according to the Copernicus Institute and a report from the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), published Monday as part of COP29 which is being held in Baku. Morocco should not be affected by this record rise in heat. “In Morocco, the year 2023 is so far the hottest on record, with an average temperature 1.77 degrees Celsius higher than the reference period 1981-2010,” indicates the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) in a notice made public.
