2024 Olympics: Why Morocco finished last among Arab countries

With only one gold medal won by the athlete Soufiane El Bakkali and the first football bronze medal won by the Atlas Lion Cubs, Morocco is last in the ranking of Arab and African countries having participated in the Paris Olympic Games.

After the 2021 fiasco, Morocco sank in Paris. Only the athlete Soufiane El Bakkali and the Atlas Lion Cubs saved the kingdom’s honor by winning a gold medal and a first bronze medal in football respectively. The Moroccan delegation composed of 60 Moroccan athletes representing Morocco in 19 different sports disciplines such as football, boxing and athletics made a poor showing in Paris.
